Friday October 20-Saturday October 21, 2023

Experience a unique part of Kansas on the Elk River National Recreation Trail in Southeast Kansas, and enjoy some Christ-centered fellowship with other men who are seeking Jesus.

Cost is $15.00. You MUST register. Limited to the first 20 backpackers who sign up. (Men age 15 and up)

What to bring:  Your own backpacking gear and food. (If you don’t have a tent, there may be a few open spots to share). Hammocks work also.

The backpacking trip begins at the east trailhead of the Elk River Trail on Friday, October 20.  The entire trail is 15 miles long, but we will hike in about 3-4 miles and set up camp. Unique bluffs, rock formations, and views of Elk City Lake are part of this adventure camping experience.

Itinerary:   Meet at the east trailhead no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20. This trailhead is across from the Elk City Fish and Wildlife Office. See the hiking trail map in the photo gallery below.  We will hike in as a group. Set up camp and eat together. We plan on a firepit time of worship, Word, and prayer that evening.  Saturday, after breakfast, and a time of prayer and fellowship, there will be time to explore the trail. We will pack up about noon, and hike out back to our vehicles.  For those interested, there will be a mid-afternoon stop at the Pizza Hut in Fredonia, Kansas. (Included in your registration fee.)

By registering, you understand this is an at-your-own-risk trip. You also agree to carry your own health insurance. In the event of an injury or emergency, help will be given to get you to the nearest medical care (Independence, Kansas). You also agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mentoring Warriors and its board members. This is a drug, alcohol, and smoke-free event.
