MW Editor’s Note. Mentoring Warriors welcomes Brayden Myers to the tribe. God gave Brayden a vision for seeing our value in Christ and sharing that truth with others. Check out this article on what ALWYS WRTHY means.
ALWYS WRTHY was borne out of a vision God gave Brayden for speaking the identity Christ has for each of us. All of us are created in God’s image. Sin distorted that image in each of us, but even so, from the dawn of Creation, God set out a plan to redeem all of mankind through His only Son, Jesus Christ.
The offer is for anyone who will repent from their sins, turning to Christ by faith.
There are three things that ALWYS WRTHY proclaims:
- ALWYS WRTHY of God’s love.
John 3 speaks to God’s love. Most of us know verse 16:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
That’s love for the entire world. Billions of people, past, present, and yet to be born. The amount of sin one has committed does not exempt them from God’s love. Christ died for all. You and me included.
The worthiness of His love doesn’t come by our performance, but by the person of Jesus Christ. His perfect life, fully God and fully human, is the focus of God’s love for us. God loved us so much, He gave us His son.
2. ALWYS WRTHY of God’s presence.
This is a big one. The Christian life is not about us trying harder, keeping a list of dos and don’ts. Checking off the boxes. It’s all about living in the very presence of God, AT ALL TIMES!
By faith, the Holy Spirit comes to live in each Jesus follower. One person described it as a filling of the Spirit in a person’s life as if God enters into your soul and body, looking through your eyes, activating your hands and feet to acts of redemption and restoration. Your mouth speaking what He wants said. You are not a robot, but completely human with a free will of your own that willingly invites the presence of God into your every nanosecond of life.
Simply by asking: Jesus, fill me now with your presence; in my mind, my soul, my body, my emotions. Let no aspect of me be excluded from your presence.
3. ALWYS WRTHY of the good things God has in store for us.
This is NOT a “Jesus genie in the bottle” where God is obligated to give us the American dream. To the contrary, everything God has for His children is for their good and His glory.
It may sound cheesy to refer to Romans 8:28, but the truths of that passage ring true. Here’s what that verse says:
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Later, in that passage, it talks about sufferings, trials, and tribulations. It describes nakedness, distress, and persecutions as all being part of how God works His good in us.
When I, David, had my quadruple heart bypass surgery, it was the most excruciatingly painful experience of my life. Four years later, God used a Wild at Heart Men’s Boot Camp in Colorado to take me to the mat and expose some deeply painful emotional wounds I’d been carrying around since I was a boy. None of that was welcomed at the time. However, the fruit of how God has brought about so much good in my life since those painful experiences has been worth it.
The challenge for all of us is to rethink what goodness looks like. Evil is evil. Goodness is always good. Pain, in the hands of God, can bring about tremendous good. Good for you and good for those you influence.
The question is, in thinking about your identity, do you see yourself as worthy of God’s love, his presence, and goodness?
Not based on anything you have done or accomplished, but based fully on who Jesus is and His gift of salvation freely offered to you.

David Riffel is the Founder and Executive Director of www.Mentoring-Warriors.com. Having gone through his warrior years (18-30) essentially without a mentor, God has placed in him a heart for warriors, to come alongside them in various ways as they figure out life. David’s newly released book, Mentoring Warriors: Coming Alongside Young Men 18-30, outlines principles for mentoring and gives advice for warriors in six key areas of life: self-management, life skills, education/career, relationships, faith, and identity.
